Diane the reporter #1

Diane finds Pete the inventor as he's about to jump off of a very high ledge.    

No, he's not suicidal. He's about to make his first test of his newest invention; a flying machine.    

So Diane starts asking him all sorts of questions about this new creation of his. But Pete is very anxious to test out his craft after all the work he's put into it, he's ready to fly, and wants to get going, and says this to Diane.    

So Diane asks him if she can hop onto his machine and ask her questions as they go.    

So being in a hurry, Pete says okay.    

So Diane jumps on, and off they go, and Diane is asking him questions as soon as they're off.   

So Diane is asking; "When did you start on this? Why did you want to do it? How did you figure it all out?" And "What has it cost you?" And so on.   

Meanwhile, his machine is doing nothing but dropping straight down, but they began the "flight" up very high, so there's plenty of space down below.   

But after awhile, between her questions, he's trying to say something to her:  

So then, he manages to get through to her, saying; "Something occurs to me..."   

And she says "What, something you haven't told me?"   

"Yes. It occurs to me that I did not plan on the extra weight." He says as they keep dropping.    

"The extra weight? What extra weight?"      

"I did not factor it in."     

"So what are you saying?"     

"I'm saying, that if you hadn't have jumped on, I might have---

SPLAT!
